ERIK VAN NEVEL
Erik Van Nevel studied oboe, voice and conducting at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and at the Royal Conservatories in Brussels and Antwerp. Afterwards he attended specialization courses in Britain, Germany and the Netherlands. He is founder and conductor of Currende that a regular guest on the major European festivals. He sings solo in the occupation Currende Consort. From 1983 to 2000 he was Kapellmeister of the cathedral in Brussels and has founded the Capella Sancti Michaelis. He was for many years an enthusiastic singer in the Huelgas ensemble of his uncle Paul. Currende both Brussels and the Cathedral Choir, he created several CD recordings by the international music press were very well received: G. Carissimi, O. Lassus, P. Philips, H. Sch?tz, J. De Wert, G. Frescobaldi, D. Scarlatti, Bach family, D. Buxtehude, H.L. Hassler, L. Marenzio and a series of 10 CDs with a wide geographical overview of the Dutch Polyphonists. From 1980 to 1985 he was assistant conductor of the then BRT radio choir. Erik Van Nevel teaches choral conducting, chamber music and early music practice at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. Moreover, he gives private lessons more conductors and singers and is invited to coach ensembles and musical groups. Every year he gives courses and courses for choir conductors and ensemble singers. Both general and choral conducting technique as the more specific performance practice are always discussed. He was already a guest in the Netherlands, Spain, Israel, Sweden, Norway, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia and France. |
